Three suspected Pokot warriors were shot dead in Moroto district on Friday in a joint operation by the UPDF and the Police. The rest of the warriors escaped with all the stolen animals during the 20-minute fire exchange.

The Karamoja regional Police spokesperson, George Obia, said on Sunday that Charles Wambi, a Police officer, was injured during the battle. Obia added that the warriors stole animals from Nabilatuk sub-county in Nakapiripirit district.

"We caught up with them in Acerer parish in Nadunget sub-county," Obia noted. South Karamoja is experiencing a high influx of Pokot warriors who raid cattle from Turkana in western Kenya.

In Karamoja, the warriors have persistently stolen animals from Nakapiripirit and Napak districts. Obia said 156 suspected warriors have been prosecuted in various district courts in Karamoja since August.
