LRA Rebels Kill Two Aid Workers - Military Source


BANGUI -Two local employees of an Italian NGO were killed in the Central African Republic when Lord's Resistance Army rebels attacked their vehicle, a military source said Friday.

"A vehicle belonging to the Coopi NGO was transporting construction material to Obo with nine people on board when it was attacked ... by LRA elements," the source told AFP.

"The vehicle's driver and another Coopi employee were killed in the attack. Two other people were wounded by bullets, and five others are missing."

Coopi -- or Cooperazione Internationale -- confirmed the two deaths of its employees linked to the Thursday attack in a statement read on national radio.

The military source also accused LRA rebels of killing a village chief two weeks ago in the Obo region, which is located in southeastern Central African Republic...
